July 11, 2024 – The Bicycle hobo

I ain't doing harm;

I'm just a wanderin' 'round.

A bicycle hobo

pedaling from town to town.

I'm headed to the west;

from Washington,

I'll pedal to Oregon,

towards the setting sun.

I'll ride the old tow path

and some rail trails.

I'll roll over black asphalt

watchin' out for glass and nails.

Washington to Pittsburgh,

then down the Ohio.

Up the Missouri,

with Lewis and Clark, I in tow.

I ain't doing harm.

I'm just a wanderin' 'round.

A bicycle hobo,

getting lost to get found.

I won't think about tomorrow.

I'll let tomorrow come and go.

My steel steed blowin'

with the wind to and fro.

When I get to Portland,

I'll settle for a while.

Wait out the wind and snow

In Spring I'll be sure to smile.

For with those sunny days,

I'll get back out on the trail.

My bicycle and I;

God's beautiful land to unveil.

I ain't doing harm.

I'm just passing through.

A bicycle hobo

takin' in the view.

I'll be a good Samaritan.

Help my fellow man, too.

Get a job in the winter.

Pay liberty's due.

I'll stay out of trouble,

and respect the Law.

If the police cause me trouble,

I'll pedal away from that wall.

This ride won't last forever.

I'll enjoy it while I can.

For life as a bicycle hobo can

turn one into a man.

I ain't doing harm.

I'm just wanderin' 'round.

A bicycle hobo

pedalin' from town to town.

I ain't doing harm.

I'm just passing through.

A bicycle hobo;

found by God and made new!
