July 21, 2024 – The Ark Encounter
From Vanceburg, I took the AA west a little ways to Rectorville, KY, and I set up camp for the night at a place just off the road. I woke up early and enjoyed a couple breakfast biscuits at a convenient store. Once the sun came up, I pedaled to Maysville and then got off the AA onto some very hilly back country roads all the way to Williamstown, KY. They were absolutely beautiful, scenic hill top roads, that went up and down with the undulating hills. It was tough riding, out in the middle of nowhere, eastern Kentucky, but I enjoyed the ride and the views.
When I got into Williamstown, I looked for a hotel/motel. Unfortunately, all the hotels in the area were booked on a Friday night. I was able to book a room at the Sunrise Inn for Saturday night and Sunday night. I'm taking a rest day today at the hotel. Friday night I slept slept behind Saint William Catholic Church in Williamstown. Yesterday, I went to the Ark Encounter. It was so awe-inspiring! A great monumental park for both old and young alike. The Ark itself is enormous, expertly crafted, on a scale that seems almost unbelievable. It is the largest timber frame structure in the entire world. They don't think it would actually float, but they have proven that Noah and his family could have built the Ark. The Bible story is true. If this doesn't strengthen your faith in the Lord, then nothing will. In addition to the Ark, and all the wonderful exhibits in the Ark, there is a virtual reality experience, Emzara's Buffet, food, snack, and ice cream stands, a lovely pond, a full-size zoo, monument walk, an answers center, a couple outside stages, a carousel, a garden, a gift shop, and much more. I stayed all day Saturday, but I still didn't have enough time to read and see everything. They have thought of everything, down to the most minute detail. It truly is worth every dollar to check out. I highly recommend going if you are in this part of Kentucky. That is all for now. God bless and over and out.
