September 3, 2024 – Life's a Beach
From Richardton, I saddled up and headed to Dickinson, ND. I stayed two nights in Dickinson, and I was able to write 12 poems/songs for the parables of Jesus Christ. I went to the library, ate at a Burger King, went to Walmart, and the rest of the time there I spent resting and writing.
Yesterday, I left Dickinson Inn and headed towards Belfield. A little less than nine miles from Belfield, I met a bicycle tourist named Ron. He is an avid adventure cyclist, and he was very eager and excited to tell me about his travels and his bicycle gear. He has done tours in Alaska, Canada, several in the US, several in Europe, and more. His longest tour was the TransAmerica Trail. He is now doing a portion of the Northern Tier route from Fargo, ND to Great Falls, Montana. Yesterday, he stopped and camped in Medora, which is the gateway to Theodore Roosevelt National Park. I wanted to stop and camp there, and then take a day to explore the National Park, but I'm on a time crunch. I have to make it through the Rocky Mountains in a hurry. It's already September, and there will be snow on the mountains now or in the next couple weeks. I pray to the good Lord that He gives me safe passage through the mountains, and that I won't have to cancel the rest of my trip to the Oregon coast. As long as winter doesn't set in until October, I should be ok.
Today, I will be entering into Montana, and I hope to make it to Glendive or even further. I camped last night in Beach, ND, the last town before Montana, on I-94 and Old Highway 10. Going through Medora to Beach was amazing. I got to see a portion of the Bad Lands, Theodore Roosevelt National Park, and the painted canyons. I also passed by several breathtaking buttes and small mountains. It was an epic ride filled with God's glorious landscapes.
From Sentinel Butte to Beach, I emerged from the canyon country back out onto the high plains. The land seems to be farm land and ranch land. I have seen many wheat fields, hay fields, and grazing land for cattle.
I would be on the road right now, but I'm waiting for the Post Office in Beach to open. I have quite a bit of items to mail back home. This will lighten my load by at least a couple pounds.
As far as my anger issue, I'm still turning it over to the Lord. I feel like if I stay clear of sinful behaviors (drinking and lust of the flesh, mainly) and take everything to God in prayer, He will help me overcome my anger issues. Like a turtle, I will slowly but surely persevere and strive towards my heavenly goal in Christ Jesus. I know I'm going to fail, but I am not going to give up. Take care for now, in Jesus' mighty and holy name, amen.
